Verbeter De Wereld Met YouTUbe
Getuige van politiegeweld of andere mensenrechtenschendingen? Leg het vast en upload de beelden naar Human Rights Video Hub, werktitel van een nieuw videoblog waar in de toekomst iedereen a la YouTube zelfgefilmde mensenrechtenschendingen op kan zetten. Initiatiefnemers Witness en Global Voices Online streven naar snellere actie na schendingen, onder het motto See it, film it, change it.
De pilotversie van de Human Rights Video Hub toont onder andere hoe de Zimbabwaanse politie met knuppels inslaat op een vreedzaam vakbondsprotest.
Overigens komt niet alles door de screening: video's die te gewelddadig zijn of mensen in gevaar kunnen brengen worden geweigerd. Volgend jaar zomer moet de definitieve versie klaar zijn.
Have you witnessed police violence or any other human rights abuses? Please record that and upload the video to the Human Rights Video Hub, name of a new videoblog where everybody will be able to broadcast a la YouTube self-recorded Human rights videos. The two initiators, Witness and Global Voices Online, are striving to take quick actions against human rights abuses with the motto "See it, Film it, Change it."
The Human Rights Video Hub Pilot is showing up, among other videos , Zimbabwean police using clubs breaking up a peaceful demonstration held by Trades Unions activists.
Furthermore not all submitted videos pass the screening process: videos which are deemed too violent or may expose people to danger will be rejected. The Human Rights Video Hub will officially be launched during this summer.
