By Sami Ben Gharbia • December 10, 2006 • Filed in: Blogging and Web

Between 10-11 December 2006, thousands of human rights activists around the world will take part in Amnesty International's Global Letter-Writing Marathon.

Last year, people in over 35 countries sent an incredible 80,000 appeals in a 24-hour period.

This year's event looks set to be the biggest yet, with at least 40 countries taking part. The Marathon is held annually to mark the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed on 10 December 1948.
